On 24 April 2025, IFCCA (Former EFCCA) launched the first training module of the newly established Horizon Europe IFCCA (Former EFCCA) Academy, an educational initiative aimed at strengthening patient understanding of ongoing research in IBD.

Developed in collaboration with the GENEGUT consortium, this first module focused on RNA-based therapies and was delivered by Prof. Caitriona O’Driscoll. The session introduced patient representatives to the scientific background and therapeutic potential of RNA technologies in the treatment of ileal Crohn’s Disease, the main target of the GENEGUT project.

The training was designed to be accessible and informative, enabling participants to better understand complex scientific developments and their potential implications for future IBD care. The session received positive feedback from the participants, who appreciated the clarity of the content and its relevance to the patient experience.
