ECCO Publishes First Consensus on Dietary Management in IBD

We are pleased to share that the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) has published its first consensus document on the dietary management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

This comprehensive and evidence-based guideline highlights the growing recognition of diet as a key component in IBD care. It covers nutritional assessment, use of enteral nutrition, food-based approaches, and dietary supplements.

IFCCA (Former EFCCA) is proud to have actively contributed to this process. Our patient representatives participated in the working groups and discussions, ensuring that the patient voice was embedded throughout the development of the consensus. This collaboration reflects our commitment to a more inclusive and multidisciplinary approach to IBD management—one that fully recognises the lived experience of people with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

We welcome this important step forward and remain dedicated to strengthening the bridge between patients, clinicians, and researchers.
