EFCCA General Assembly 2024:
A Commitment to Advocacy and Progress

From 7 to 9 June 2024, Brussels hosted the European Federation of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Associations (EFCCA) General Assembly, representing a significant event for our organisation.

Elections and Board Discharged

With 38 members in attendance, the GA approved the Annual and Financial Report 2023 discharging the previous board. During the ensuing elections, our Chairperson Salvo Leone and our Treasurer Marko Perovic were re-elected. At the same meeting board member, Lucie Lastikova, stepped down. Hence the composition of the new board is as follows:

  • Salvo Leone: Chairperson Chairperson

  • Ciara Drohan: Vice President

  • Marko Perovic: Treasurer

  • Magdalena Sajak-Szczerba: Member

Congratulations to our dedicated team! With this leadership, EFCCA looks forward to another successful year of advancing advocacy, support, and progress for individuals living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Highlights of EFCCA's Projects and Activities

Throughout the assembly, members had the opportunity to learn in-depth EFCCA's key projects and activities for the 2023-2024 term. Some of the highlights included:

  • World IBD Day: A global campaign to raise awareness about IBD and advocate for better care.

  • EFCCA Academy: Educational initiatives aimed at empowering patients and caregivers with knowledge and skills.

  • DIVA Project: Innovative research and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for IBD patients.

  • Re-established Youth Group: Enhancing support and representation for young people affected by IBD.

Thanks to all our members for their active participation and contributions during the General Assembly. Your dedication and engagement are instrumental in driving our mission forward. We also thank everyone who has supported EFCCA's efforts, enabling us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by IBD.

As we look ahead, EFCCA remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of IBD patients across Europe and beyond.

Together, we will continue to strive for a future where every individual living with IBD receives the care and support they deserve.
