Report on Nutrition Meeting

GA Brussels 2025

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (USA) has published a report following a high-level expert Medical Nutrition meeting held in Berlin on 18 February to address a key gap in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) management. Although clinical guidelines recommend integrating nutrition into a multidisciplinary treatment approach, MNT remains largely inaccessible in the US due to minimal insurance coverage of essential nutritional formulas.

The meeting—held in the lead-up to the 2025 ECCO Congress—brought together experts, including EFCCA representatives, to examine these barriers and develop a roadmap for future research, advocacy, and policy change. Action items identified aim to promote equitable access to MNT for all IBD patients.
